Self-Registration System Now Online

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the first step towards obtaining a 20-year renewable dock tenure was launched. The Government Dock Self Registration System is up and running for those located in the Sunshine Coast Region. More information can be found in the Government’s published news release.

Last week WPC board members were asked to test and review a version of the new dock registration system and provide our recommendations and feedback. We appreciate having our feedback considered, and believe the form is straight forward and easy to use.

The government has stated that dock and boathouse Self-Registration system is the first step to receiving your 20-year renewable authorization.

The province has updated and renamed their Dock Management Plan website. A fact sheet and answers to some frequently asked questions can be found there. The WPC will be working hard, continuing our efforts, and communicating new information to our members as we receive it.

Per the government DMP website:

“Existing dock and boathouse owners can complete the self-registration form to receive a temporary authorization (a shíshálh swiya General Permission) under the Land Act. Refer to the Sample shíshálh swiya General Permission (PDF, 199KB) for an example authorization. These authorizations and existing tenures will be transitioned to long-term 20-year renewable authorizations upon individual review over the next three years.”
