On Aug. 1, the Province and the shíshálh Nation grandfathered existing docks and boathouses throughout the swiya, as part of updates to the Dock Management Plan.

Collaboration and compromise led to a balanced approach on grandfathering. Dock and Boathouse owners should be thankful that a successful consultation process took place that was well supported by all parties in attendance. Our sincere thanks to the Sechelt Nation and WLRS.

In appreciation of these changes to the DMP, the Waterfront Protection Coalition is respectfully asking the community to remove the yellow signs throughout the swiya.

WPC will monitor the implementation of the DMP and continue to support dock owners as we take on new initiatives - let’s work together as a community to build upon these positive steps.

Enjoy your docks and boathouses!
